Privacy policy
This page is a translation of the French version, which prevails in case of any difference.
Retenu turns the reels you share into notes. To do that, we process some data. This page explains which data, why, for how long, and what you can ask for.
Who is responsible
Pro Digital Services Sàrl, a company established in Switzerland, publishes Retenu and is the controller of your data. For any question about your data: contact@retenu.app.
What we process
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Account: a random identifier created on your device (we only keep an encrypted fingerprint of it), and the identifier provided by Apple if you choose to sign in with Apple. No name, no email address. | Create your account, secure it, sync your notes | As long as your account exists |
| What you save: reel link, public caption and the name of the account that posted it, transcript, on-screen text, small thumbnail, notes, your own annotations and checked boxes, themes, settings, connection key for your AI assistant | Provide the service: filing, search, prompt generation | As long as you keep them. Erased as soon as you delete your account; a copy may remain for up to 30 days in our hosting provider's automatic backups. |
| Video and audio of the reel | Analyze them once | Deleted as soon as the analysis is finished, usually after a few minutes. We never keep the video. |
| Subscription: plan and status provided by Apple | Unlock the features of your plan | During the subscription, then as long as the law requires (accounting) |
| Waitlist: email address, date, language | Email you on launch day | Until launch, then 6 months at most, or until you unsubscribe |
| Messages you send us: your email address and your message | Answer your request | While we handle your request, then 2 years at most |
| Technical logs: IP address, date, errors | Security and fixing outages | 30 days at most |
We never receive your payment details: payments go through Apple.
Legal basis
We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing Retenu), for our legitimate interest in securing the service and fixing outages, with your consent for the waitlist (you can leave it at any time), and to meet our legal obligations, such as accounting.
Analysis by artificial intelligence
Transcription, on-screen text reading and note creation are done by AI models running at our hosting provider, Cloudflare (Workers AI). They are used only to produce your note. We do not use your content to train AI models.
Who we share data with
- Cloudflare (United States): hosting, database, AI analysis, receiving emails sent to Retenu.
- Apple (United States): Sign in with Apple, payments and subscriptions.
- Retrieval of public videos: done by our own servers or by a technical provider, which only receives the reel link, never your identity.
- An email delivery service: for the launch message and emails related to your account.
We don't sell your data. Neither the app nor the website shows ads, and neither uses advertising trackers or audience measurement tools. The retenu.app website sets no cookies and loads its fonts from our own servers.
Data processed outside Switzerland
Some of these providers process data outside Switzerland and the European Union, in particular in the United States. We only do so with the safeguards provided by law: a country recognized as offering adequate protection, the provider's certification under the Swiss–US or EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, receive a copy of it, or object to its processing. Write to contact@retenu.app; we reply within 30 days.
You can delete your account and all your notes directly in the app: Profile, then Delete my account. Deletion is immediate.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) in Switzerland, or the data protection authority of your country.
Minimum age
Retenu is not intended for people under 13. If the law of your country sets a higher age for using an online service on your own, you need a parent's consent below that age.
Changes
If this policy changes significantly, we will let you know in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
